The St. Luke’s Eye Institute is a leader in ophthalmology training, offering a comprehensive 3-year residency program accredited by the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology. Established in 1987, our program has evolved to include a diverse group of over 100 consultants across different subspecialties in our two branches—Quezon City and Global City. The hands-on faculty includes 60 active and 42 visiting consultants in Quezon City, and 46 active and 7 visiting consultants in Global City. Our mission is to provide world-class eye care, cutting-edge research, and exceptional educational opportunities to our residents, fostering excellence in both clinical practice and ethical conduct.

Residents at St. Luke’s gain extensive exposure to diverse ophthalmic conditions, managing over 6,000 outpatient consultations annually and performing more than 300 major surgeries. Special emphasis is placed in our fully-equipped Eye Institute for comprehensive diagnostic examinations and Vision Laser Center for refractive surgery, where residents train using state-of-the-art technology in both cataract and laser refractive procedures, including femtosecond laser assisted surgery. Patients’ surgical and diagnostic expenses are largely subsidized through our social service department, ensuring residents gain experience in providing high-quality, compassionate care to all socioeconomic levels. Residents also gain valuable experience in medical and surgical missions, providing eye care to underserved communities across the country. Moreover, residents engage in cutting-edge research, with full funding support from the hospital’s Research and Biotechnology department for projects. With more than 100 active and visiting consultants across all subspecialties, St. Luke’s Eye Institute offers residents an unparalleled clinical and academic environment. The program’s reputation for academic excellence is demonstrated by our residents’ consistent top rankings in both the In-Service Residency Examination and the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology Diplomate Certifying Examinations—a distinction unique to our program.

We invite driven and compassionate applicants to join our esteemed residency program. At St. Luke’s, you will receive unmatched training, hands-on experience, and the opportunity to excel academically and professionally in a supportive, nurturing, and dynamic environment.
