The Ophthalmology Residency Training Program of the Department of Ophthalmology, Ospital ng Makati (OsMak Eye), is a three-year, Philippine Board of Ophthalmology- accredited program designed to transform licensed physicians into competent ophthalmology specialists. The program aims to develop the cognitive, technical, and motor skills essential for both clinical practice and academic engagement, aligned with local and international standards.

OsMak’s Department of Ophthalmology is staffed by board-certified subspecialists in Cornea and External Diseases, Glaucoma, Retina and Vitreous, Pediatric Ophthalmology & Motility, Neuro-ophthalmology, Uveitis, Oculoplastics, Lacrimal & Orbit, Cataract, Refractive Surgery, and Low Vision Rehabilitation. These consultants provide hands-on training and mentorship, with each resident paired with a mentor to ensure personalized and in-depth guidance.

The curriculum is grounded in the standards set by the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology and reflects the current theoretical and clinical practices across subspecialties. Residents undergo structured training that includes direct patient care, surgical exposure, and academic development.

The program emphasizes continuous learning and research. Residents are trained in scientific inquiry—from proposal development to research execution—and are guided in utilizing digital tools and resources. Skills in effective scientific communication and presentation are also cultivated.

Practical training is extensive, with access to over 13,000 cases annually, a wide range of surgical procedures in a state-of-the-art operating theater, and modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.

Ultimately, the OsMak Ophthalmology Residency Program is committed to producing well-rounded ophthalmologists who are clinically adept, academically prepared, and ethically grounded—ready to contribute meaningfully to the field of ophthalmology both locally and abroad.
