The Ophthalmology Residency Program of the MDH is a PBO-accredited, 3-year comprehensive, supervised and graduated plan of training to prepare a post-Internship medical graduate in the general practice of Ophthalmology. The program offers six (6) residency positions, two (2) per year level as mandated by the PBO.
This was the first residency training program offered by a private hospital in the Philippines. It started in 1980 and for over 45 years has been producing successful ophthalmologists yearly. We have a complete roster of PBO accredited consultant/specialists in every subspecialty, each one willingly and dutifully closely assisting, teaching and guiding our resident staff.
The Residency Training Program of the MDH Department of Ophthalmology aims to:
- Produce physicians with well-rounded clinical competence and academic excellence in Ophthalmology, ready to provide quality and holistic care to patients and qualify for certification by the PBO.
- Enable and encourage Trainees to conduct research in the subspecialty to improve ophthalmologic care and its delivery.
- Prepare physicians to become future faculty/consultants in Ophthalmology practicing in the MDH-their home.
We are equipped with state of the art diagnostic instruments and laser treatment machines in our Vision Center and surgical microscopes and machines in our Ambulatory care operating room complex. All are staffed by competent technicians and nurses assisting our resident and consultant surgeons
Surgical cases are adequate with a charity out patient program and outside agreements with the Philippine Childrens Medical Center and different provincial hospitals in the country.
MDH is a home for our residents and we will welcome you to our growing MDH family. And family always take care of each other.
