Our program aims to provide the most intuitive training program through clinical exposure for residents to various eye conditions in different settings, such as general ophthalmology, cornea, glaucoma, retina, pediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology, low- vision and oculoplastics. Residents or fellows work directly with patients, gaining experience in diagnosis and treatment. Practical training in surgery is a critical part of ophthalmology. Programs often include hands-on labs and supervised surgeries where residents progressively handle more complex procedures, from minor surgeries to major ones, such as cataracts, corneal transplants, and retinal surgeries. Our department’s vision is appropriate and affordable quality eye care for our patients and academic learning to improve the practice of ophthalmology. Our mission is to provide a completely equipped, technologically advanced, world-standard eye institution dedicated to research, training, and delivery system of quality eye care, ensure that our mission and vision are carried out, and deliver topnotch eye care and training.

Many programs encourage or require participation in research. Residents may work on clinical trials, basic science research, or translational projects to understand and develop new diagnostic and treatment methods. Structured educational sessions are often part of a regular program, including lectures, grand rounds, case presentations, and journal clubs. Conferences may allow residents to present cases, discuss management options, and stay updated on new developments. Residents are usually paired with experienced mentors who provide guidance, feedback, and career advice. Programs may also focus on cultivating professional skills like patient communication, ethics, and collaboration. Regular evaluations and feedback sessions help trainees gauge their progress. Most programs have structured assessments to ensure residents or fellows meet competency milestones. As ophthalmology relies heavily on cutting- edge technology, many programs expose residents to advanced diagnostic tools, imaging technologies, and laser and microsurgical equipment.
