The De La Salle University Medical Center Residency program in the Department of Ophthalmology is a 3-year training and 1-year Chief Residency program for qualified licensed physicians. The program is an institutionalized, post-internship, supervised, and graduated training program designed to prepare a physician to be a general ophthalmologist. The program also aims to train residents who will grow into leadership positions in ophthalmology. Promotion in the program is competency-based to ensure that the trainee is prepared to take on the additional responsibilities and duties required of the next year level.

The goal of the program is to produce ophthalmologists who are theoretically sound clinicians, competent and skilled surgeons, relevant researchers and instructors, confident public speakers, qualified and board-certified eye doctors, and compassionate and ethical physicians.

Over the years, the department grew steadily, almost completing its roster of specialists in different subspecialties. Technology as well is growing exponentially as we boast of services comparable to those offered in Metro Manila, offering quality, innovative and affordable eye care services.

The De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute Department of Ophthalmology aspires to be world class, technology-driven, research-oriented, and the preferred center for eye care and resident training in CALABARZON.

Imbued with the La Sallian values of spirit of faith, zeal of service, communion in mission, and reverence for life, the Department of Ophthalmology shall endeavor to provide quality, innovative, compassionate, responsive, and affordable services through our competent and ethical professionals. We strive to be aligned with ASEAN qualifications reference framework, to maintain professional accreditation, pursue continuous academic and clinical development, train competent and ethical ophthalmologists, and to contribute to new scientific knowledge through research.
